10 UNUSUAL Businesses on WHEELS!
We all love the convenience of having things brought to us, but there are some services or items that we normally wouldn’t consider being on wheels. For your viewing pleasure, we’ve found 10 truly unusual mobile businesses, services that can pick up and go on a whim.
Who’s Your Daddy?
It will take you a couple of minutes before the concept of this truck actually sinks in, so we’re just going to throw it out there so you have the time before the next portable wonder. Just as the name would imply, Who’s Your Daddy is a mobile paternity test truck. While it specializes in finding out who the father is on the go, it also offers drug and alcohol testing services. The 4-wheel, converted RV is a product of Health-Street, a company that provides DNA testing and background checks. With Who’s Your Daddy, DNA Testing has never been so fun and whimsical!
Nanha Farishta Mobile Hospital
Before you get all uppity, an ambulance is not a mobile hospital. There are certain procedures – quite a few, actually – that can’t be performed in an ambulance that the Nanha Farishta Mobile Hospital of northern India can. The hospital is found within a converted Tata 407 and is equipped with an ECG, X-Ray, nebulizer, anesthesia machine, ultrasound, dialysis, refrigerator, water tank, and autoclave lab. With this equipment available, it’s even possible to perform on-board surgery – though you may want to request the van to be stationary before the procedure starts. Nanha Farishta comes from Dera Sacha Sauda, a social welfare and spiritual organization with a main focus on humanitarianism and selflessness.
Do you hate dealing with large, loud crowds at the cinema? Are you tired of being cramped in between people you don’t know well enough to want to be rubbing elbows with? Rather than miss out on the theatrical experience and avoid the cinema altogether, you may want to check out Sol Cinema, the world’s smallest solar cinema. The tiny movie theater allegedly seats eight comfortably, though it looks to be a claustrophobics nightmare. The UK-based cinema doesn’t actually showcase Hollywood’s finest, but it does come with quite the unique experience inside of a pop-up trailer, topped off with an energetic “Usherette.” Sol Cinema has been seen all over the UK, making stops at any festival and event that will host it.
The Boxing Bus
The Boxing Bus takes away one of man’s greatest excuses for not going to the gym. No longer can you complain about not having a gym near you thanks to this mobile fitness bus. The bus is equipped with everything you would need for a high-energy cardio workout, from punching bags to boxing bodies. The Boxing Bus is insistant on being great for birthday parties and special events, but something tells us the last thing that goes with a big celebration of food and cake is an intense workout. If you time it right, you may even be able to have The Boxing Bus arrive at the same time as your next pizza delivery.
LeMetric Hair and Beauty Studio
LeMetric Hair and Beauty Studio is a classic New York salon that’s been doling out great hairstyles for quite some time. It has a stand-alone salon set within 4-immobile walls. So when LeMetric decided to take its services on the road, it garnered quite a bit of attention from local media. Set inside of a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, the concept is ingenious when you take into consideration weddings and other upscale affairs. The movable beauty studio can easily pull up to any event to offer last minute styling. Of course, it’s also great if you’re just feeling really lazy and are in desperate need of a haircut.
Traditionally, it’s not legal to drink and drive, but The Pedal Pub puts that rule to rest. On this insane contraption, up to 17 people can sit on modified bicycle seats and pedal to their heart’s desire. This isn’t a motorized vehicle as the wood frame and steel chassis will move only if the pedals are being moved. It’s a slow moving device that reaches up to 5 mph or 8 kmh with a driver steering the unusual ride. As the 17 patrons pedal away, a bartender serves them brews from a barreled keg at the front of the vehicle. The Pedal Pub was initially used in the Netherlands to promote a local tavern, though they are now available for purchase or rent all over the globe.
With how stressful the world is these days, everybody is turning to spas to relieve tensions and make themselves feel better. Not everyone has the time to drive out to their nearest spa, and Kristine Wilson-Slack has the perfect answer to that dilemma. Kristine launched Bilancia Spas, a unique spa experience that takes place in the cab of a recreational vehicle. The RV is outfitted with two different spa rooms where patrons can receive anything from facials, waxing, and relaxing massages. Kristine started her business with $80,000, just enough to purchase the RV and equip it as needed. On her Linkedin profile, Kristine lists Bilancia for a one year period, leading the sharpest of people to believe the idea never took off.

Mobile Pet Grooming
Pet grooming has been around as far back as the Elizabethan era, and if a practice is that old, it’s bound to see some changes. This isn’t an entirely unique concept these days, but the thought of it is quite unusual. The vans are usually equipped with a means of washing any animal along with everything needed to groom it to perfection. Dog and cat groomers are a dime-a-dozen in most cities, but there is something to be said about the geniuses that bring the grooming to you. If you think about it, it creates a hassle-free experience for the client, allowing them to avoid the pains of making an ornery pet travel. It’s just another step to creating a society where we never have to leave our homes.
